VFW Post 1865 is named for two Veterans of World War I 
Here are their stories:

                          

Corporal Arthur C. Junker

Born May 13th, 1899 at Kenosha, Wisconsin 
Enlisted May 19th, 1917 at Kenosha, Wisconsin

: Served with : 
Co. "M" 4th Wisconsin Infantry W.N.G. 
Co. "B" 107th Supply Train, 32nd Division

Sailed from Hoboken, NJ aboard SS Tuscania on January 23rd, 1918. This ship was sunk by a German submarine, February 5th.

Corporal Junker lost his life and is buried somewhere on the Irish coast. He was the first man from Kenosha to give his life for his country in the World War.

Corporal William Ball 

Born March 24th, 1899 at Chicago, Illinois 
Enlisted July 25th, 1917 at Kenosha, Wisconsin
 : served with : 
Co. "M" 4th Wisconsin Infantry, W.N.G. 
Co. "F" 128th Infantry, 32nd Division 
Co. "D" 16th Infantry, First Division

Sailed from Hoboken, NJ aboard SS Covington on Feb 18th, 1918, arrived at Brest, France March 4th. In the latter part of the month he was assigned to Co. "D" 16th Infantry, and was made a Corporal on October 30th, 1918.

Served on the following fronts: 

Montdidier - Noyon 4-24 to 7-8 Defensive 
Cantigny 5-28 to 5-31 Offensive 
Aisne-Marne 7-18 to 7-25 Offensive 
Saizerais 8-7 to 8-25 Defensive 
Saint Mihiel 9-12 to 9-16 Offensive 
Meuse-Argonne 9-26 to 11-7 Offensive

Died November 13th, 1918 from wounds received in action on November 7th at Point Maugis. He was the last man from Kenosha to give his life for his country in the World War.

His body was disinterred and brought to Kenosha from France and was buried at St. James cemetery July 30th 1921.
