It is said that "Freedom Is Not Free"
and war always extracts a terrible price. Indeed, Freedom is
not Free. Every conflict, every war is responsible for
terrific pain and suffering. The pain and suffering of a
devastating and life changing wound, the pain and suffering of
the loss of a comrade or loved one, The pain and suffering of
the guilt of surviving. Still nothing is worse then the pain
and suffering of the families who will never have the closure
by the return of their loved one. To not know what happened to
their son or daughter, husband or wife, father or mother,
brother or sister scars lives far beyond the loss of the
soldier. Although our government and military makes every
effort to always recover every combatant circumstances
sometimes prevent recovery.
Our motto is "Honor the Dead by
Helping the Living". By our actions and activities we can
"Honor the Dead" by supporting their families and working with
veterans who are in need. Supporting community activities such
as Scouting and other recreational youth activities,
informational visits to schools, volunteering at V. A.
hospitals and clinics and homeless shelters are only a few
ways to honor our POW-MIA's.
Supporting organizations that work
for a full accounting of our missing and prisoners of war is
very important by keeping the issue in the foreground of
government officials.
Supporting our military men and
women, not only those in harms way, but those who are serving
all over the world not only "Honors" our missing but instills
pride and a sense of importance for their efforts.
Only through continued support of our
fallen heroes by organizations dedicated to this propose will
the effort to find, return and identify our comrade continue.
One such organization is
The National League of POW-MIA Families
. The National League of Families of American Prisoners and
Missing in Southeast Asia's sole purpose is to obtain the
release of all prisoners, the fullest possible accounting for
the missing and repatriation of all recoverable remains of
those who died serving our nation during the Vietnam War.
